Case study One

We were approached by a self employed talented wedding dress designer who had been trained by the Emmanuels in London.  Whilst the designer was well qualified and skilled in her art she was struggling to get new business and was relying on “word of mouth” in order to get work.  Work was erratic and was not sufficient to realise the dream of working and supporting herself.  The designer had a small budget to invest in raising her profile and was wary of the balancing act required between growing the business yet still having the capacity to cope.  

Westrade Marketing proposed niche marketing activity including specific targeted press advertising to include editorial and photographs of dresses already made to showcase the quality and uniqueness of having a hand-made wedding dress. This coupled with attendance at a local wedding exhibition to raise the company’s profile resulted in a steady business growth based on reputation, consistency of quality and correct brand image.

Case study two

A local pine furniture retailer was struggling to build business due to several factors:
  1. The shop was not in a prime location – customers had to seek it out, there was no passing trade.
  2. Competition was fierce as many other retailers and on-line suppliers offered similar furniture.
  3. The owner of the business had never undertaken any marketing before…up until recently business has always “come to him”.
The retailer knew something had to be done as trade was slow, stock holding was high and staffing costs continued to mount.  Following an initial consultation we established who the target customers were and clearly identified the retailer’s sales proposition.

Westrade Marketing suggested some pro-active results orientated activity.  We worked on the company logo and began to build a clear brand image for the shop.  A basic catalogue style website was set up to promote the business efficiently and professionally. Advertising literature was generated including flyers for direct mail, an advertisement in yellow pages and a local radio advertisement all targeted at raising customers awareness of the company.  An in-store promotional plan ran alongside the advertising rewarding customers spending over a set amount.  Westrade Marketing also put in place a customer reward scheme to encourage brand loyalty and increase sales. Within 3 months business had increased.
